Holiday weekend (belated)

I went to the Apostle Islands for a mini-vacation over the 4th of July holiday. The weather left a little to be desired. Low 40's in July? Come on!!! But what can you expect from the Wisconsin northwoods, eh?
Madeline Island is a quirky little village. Lots of nest little shops, and some local color make it a pretty interesting place.
There is a lot of good kayaking in the area, and quite a few places to rent one for the weekend.

We stayed with some friends of the family, who were all very nice and went out of their way to make us feel at home. They all had definite opinions of what I should do with my medical education, none of which really fit in with my own desires.

July marks the last full month of my employment on the Janesville Fire Department. I have such mixed feelings about resigning. Leaving a job I love is turning out to be a very difficult thing to do. It seems each work day that goes by brings with it another dose of the reality of the situation. I'm really not looking forward to walking out the door after my last shift.
