Nearing the end...

As those (few) of you who read this know, I'm rapidly approaching the end of my first semester of medical school. I've been thinking a lot about what this means to me, and how this experience has so far affected me.

First and foremost, I can't believe the amount of material I've learned. What's even more amazing is that I can recall most of it. Just as amazing though, is that I know NOTHING compared to a practicing physician. I'm barely scratching the surface of medical knowledge. It's pretty exciting to think of the things I'm going to learn as I continue along this new path.

Also, I have to say something about the gentleman who donated his body so I could learn from it. It was an amazing gift, and a wonderful privilege for me to have been able to learn directly from a human being. I really don't think there is any other way I would have the same appreciation for the complexity of structures and delicacy of tissues of the human body. It was an amazing experience, and one I know I will never forget for the rest of my life.

As Usual...

Once again I'm deficient in posting. Oh well. I guess when that is the norm there can't be high expectations, can there?
Anyway, the semester is drawing to a close, with finals next week (argh!)

At least my anxiety levels are down. It helps to go into finals strong.

Not too much new to tell, other than I'm really looking forward to a break. It will be nice to have a significant chunk of time off.

I feel like a starving man dreaming about what he'll eat when he gets some food. I'm just thinking of all the fun things I'll be able to do with all of the free time I'll have over the holidays. Kinda dumb, but there you go....

Well, back to vitamin deficiencies.

One thing is for sure. I will not miss biochemistry AT ALL.
