Nearing the end...
As those (few) of you who read this know, I'm rapidly approaching the end of my first semester of medical school. I've been thinking a lot about what this means to me, and how this experience has so far affected me.
First and foremost, I can't believe the amount of material I've learned. What's even more amazing is that I can recall most of it. Just as amazing though, is that I know NOTHING compared to a practicing physician. I'm barely scratching the surface of medical knowledge. It's pretty exciting to think of the things I'm going to learn as I continue along this new path.
Also, I have to say something about the gentleman who donated his body so I could learn from it. It was an amazing gift, and a wonderful privilege for me to have been able to learn directly from a human being. I really don't think there is any other way I would have the same appreciation for the complexity of structures and delicacy of tissues of the human body. It was an amazing experience, and one I know I will never forget for the rest of my life.
